Project key points

  • Major temporary works including design, installation and removal of props up to 35m in length, 1.3 diameter and weighing up to 20 tonnes

  • Top down construction including the heavily restricted excavation and subsequent disposal of over 30,000m³ of excavated arisings through preformed 'mole holes' below the newly cast suspended slab

  • Carefully planned and systematic triple handling of excavated arisings due to the restrictions imposed by the temporary propping, varying stepped levels/undulations in formation

  • Safe removal of substantially large existing foundations to Grade II listed buildings following installation of temporary piles, needles and props

  • Achieved no more than 10mm cumulative movement across the entire installation, pre-loading and removal of the entire temporary works scheme
